A holiday does not really start at the airport. It starts the first time you see the sea. Between the terminal in Tarsus and your summer flat in Kizkalesi, though, there is a long coastal drive, and if it is badly planned it eats the first half-day of your trip. Our Cukurova Airport to Kizkalesi transfer and Silifke transfer turn that stretch into a ride where the kids nap and you watch the Mediterranean go by.
Mersin’s western coast — Erdemli, Kumkuyu, Ayaş, Kizkalesi, Narlıkuyu, Silifke and Tasucu — is where families, summer-home owners and Turks living abroad gather every summer. Getting there from the airport means crossing Mersin city and following the D-400 coast road west. This is not a quick city run. It is a proper road trip, and at EcrinVIP we plan it as its own kind of job.
Why a Kizkalesi and Silifke transfer is different from a city transfer
A passenger heading to central Mersin and one heading to Tasucu leave the same terminal, but they are not making the same journey. Three things shape the western coast route.
First, the length of the road. Past Mersin, the route runs along the shore, through and around a string of coastal towns. In summer, traffic slows down around Erdemli and Kizkalesi in the evenings. So we do not quote one fixed duration; we share an approximate arrival window based on the day and time.
Second, the destination. There are hotels here, but also a lot of holiday complexes whose internal roads simply do not show up on navigation apps. Third, the load. A family off on holiday carries far more than a business traveller staying one night: beach bags, a pushchair, an inflatable boat, several big suitcases.
From Erdemli to Tasucu: where we drop you on the western coast
These are the destinations that come up most in our bookings, each with its own quirk:
- Erdemli — the first big stop on the western coast and the closest holiday area to Mersin, packed with summer complexes.
- Kumkuyu and Ayaş — holiday complexes lined up along the beach. The complex name and block number are a must here.
- Kizkalesi — the resort town known for its castle sitting out in the sea, full of guesthouses and hotels.
- Narlıkuyu — a small cove famous for fish restaurants and close to the Heaven and Hell sinkholes.
- Silifke town — on the banks of the Göksu River; a regular route for visitors to the Göksu Delta and the ancient sites around it.
- Tasucu — the port town where passengers connect to ferries for Northern Cyprus.
- Village and highland homes → for family houses inland from Silifke and Erdemli, we deliver using a shared location pin.
Somewhere not on the list? Not a problem. Send the location on WhatsApp and we will plan the route around it.
Finding the right door in a holiday complex
The complaint we hear most on this route goes like this: “The taxi found the complex, but not our block.” Holiday complexes can have several blocks with similar names, gates that all look alike and internal roads that navigation apps ignore.
To make sure your chauffeur drops you at your actual door, add these details to the booking:
- The full name of the complex and the neighbourhood or village it is in.
- Your block, floor and flat number.
- Which gate to use, if you know it; some complexes have a separate vehicle entrance.
- A location pin of the house, shared on WhatsApp if possible.
- If the gatekeeper needs to approve vehicles, pass on the plate number; we send it to you before the transfer.
- If you are collecting keys from a neighbour or an agent, add that stop to the booking too.
Six small notes. They are the difference between circling a dark complex at midnight and stepping out right at your front door.
Planning the holiday transfer in high season
June to September is the busiest time on the western coast. Add public holidays and weekends, and both the airport and the coast road get crowded. Demand for vehicles rises on our side too, so once your dates are fixed, book early.
The return day needs its own calculation. Heading back east to the airport, you pass through Mersin city and onto the motorway, and in the evening that part can drag. We suggest a pick-up time counting back from your flight, allowing for the length of the road and how busy the day is. Seems early? Usually it is not. Nobody plans to get stuck in an end-of-holiday convoy on the coast road.
Prices are fixed and per vehicle. The price we confirm at booking holds in peak season and at night alike. Book a round trip and you will not be hunting for a car on the last day of your holiday.
Summer also brings another group of travellers on this route: families who live abroad and fly home every year. They often land late at night, on connecting flights, with plenty of luggage. EcrinVIP tracks the flight from the connection point onwards, so if the onward leg is delayed, your chauffeur simply waits. Picking up the keys from a relative on the way can be built into the same transfer.
Comfort on a long road: vehicles, children and stops
On this route, choosing the right vehicle is less about luxury and more about need. The Mercedes Vito VIP, with its large boot and comfortable seats, is what we suggest most for families of four or five. Larger families, two families travelling together or anyone with a lot of gear will be better off in a Mercedes Sprinter VIP. For weddings, engagements or big family gatherings on the coast, we also arrange midibuses and coaches.
Child seats can be added as an extra when you book; on a long drive that is a safety matter, not a nice-to-have. Need a supermarket, a pharmacy or a quick break on the way? Just tell your chauffeur. Many of our passengers add a short shopping stop in Erdemli or Silifke before reaching the summer house. Empty house, empty fridge. Makes sense.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the transfer from Cukurova Airport to Kizkalesi take?
Kizkalesi lies on the western coast, beyond Mersin city centre, so this is a long-distance transfer. The journey time depends on the hour, the season and traffic both in Mersin and along the coast road, and it can stretch noticeably on summer evenings and during public holidays. Instead of quoting a fixed figure, we give you an approximate arrival window based on your date and time.
Is the Silifke or Tasucu transfer priced per person?
No, we charge a fixed price per vehicle. Everyone up to the vehicle’s capacity travels for the same price, which usually works out well for larger families. We confirm the price in writing before the transfer and do not change it later for flight delays, late hours or the season. You can pay in the car by cash or card, or by bank transfer in advance.
Can we go straight from the airport to the Tasucu ferry for Cyprus?
Yes, we can plan a direct transfer from the airport to Tasucu. Ferry timetables, check-in times and passport procedures, however, are set by the ferry operator and the port authority, so please confirm them with the operator. Send us your sailing time and we will agree a pick-up time that leaves a sensible margin between your flight and the ferry.
Can we stop along the way on an Erdemli transfer?
Yes. On the long coastal route, just ask your chauffeur for a supermarket, pharmacy or rest stop. If you want a shopping stop before reaching your summer home, put it in the booking notes and we will plan around it. With children on board, a short break makes the trip easier for everyone. There is no extra charge for reasonable stops; we build them into the plan.
Will a pushchair, beach umbrella and extra suitcases fit?
Tell us how many bags you have and list any bulky items when you book, and we will choose the vehicle accordingly. A Mercedes Vito VIP works for most families; with a lot of gear we recommend a Sprinter VIP. Mention pushchairs, beach umbrellas, folding chairs or bicycles in advance. If something will not fit, we would rather sort it out at booking than at the airport kerb.
