Gaziantep to Göbeklitepe and Halfeti Day Trip Transfer

Gaziantep to Göbeklitepe and Halfeti Day Trip Transfer

Gaziantep · Branch service

Chauffeured VIP day trip from Gaziantep to Göbeklitepe, Balıklıgöl and Halfeti in Şanlıurfa. Flexible programme, family and group. Book with EcrinVIP.

A Gaziantep to Göbeklitepe transfer is the day visitors add with a “since we have come this far” — and it is the longest, most rewarding one on the list. On one side is Göbeklitepe, among the oldest known monumental structures built by human hands. On the other is Halfeti, the quiet riverside remnant of a town partly swallowed by the Euphrates. In between sits Balıklıgöl in the heart of Şanlıurfa. You can see all three in one day, but it means an early start and a late return. EcrinVIP runs this day with a chauffeured car: we collect you from your hotel in Gaziantep, wait at every stop and bring you back in the evening. Nobody in your group spends the day at the wheel.

Do Göbeklitepe, Balıklıgöl and Halfeti fit into one day?

Short answer: yes, if you prioritise. The longer answer lies in the geography. From Gaziantep you head east through Nizip and Birecik and cross the Euphrates. Halfeti sits at the end of a road that branches north from Birecik, right on the river. Göbeklitepe is on the hills north-east of Şanlıurfa city, and Balıklıgöl is in the middle of town. Halfeti and Göbeklitepe are not on the same line, so moving between them takes some driving.

What we tend to see: guests want to “just pop in” everywhere, then complain in the evening that every stop felt rushed. So when you book, we ask which stop you would never skip. That one gets the best hours of the day. Everything else fits around it.

The stops also feel very different. At Göbeklitepe the visit starts from the visitor centre; the area with the carved pillars sits under a protective roof with walkways, but the hilltop itself is open to wind and sun, so comfortable shoes are half the battle. Balıklıgöl is another world entirely: the sacred fish pools linked to legends of the Prophet Abraham, the mosques around them and the old bazaar stretching towards Gümrük Han. Crowds on weekends and holidays slow everyone down. Your chauffeur drops you near the bazaar and you agree a meeting point in advance.

Four route ideas for a Şanlıurfa day trip from Gaziantep

  • Archaeology first: Göbeklitepe, then the Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum and the Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum. No Halfeti — the fullest day for history lovers.
  • The classic trio: Göbeklitepe in the morning, Balıklıgöl and the Urfa bazaar at lunchtime, Halfeti on the way back via Birecik. Long, and the most popular plan.
  • River focus: Halfeti and a boat trip first, then Balıklıgöl, with Göbeklitepe as a shorter late-afternoon visit. For anyone who would rather spend the morning by the Euphrates.
  • Göbeklitepe only: out in the morning, back in the afternoon — a shorter, more rested day for families with children or anyone with meetings the next morning.

Archaeology fans who also want Karahantepe can add it; check before you go whether it is open and on what terms. Harran points in a different direction and works better in an overnight programme — its beehive mud-brick houses and ancient ruins are not something to rush.

Halfeti tour transfer and the boat schedule

Halfeti is a small place clinging to the rocky banks of the Euphrates, above the old town that went under the waters of the Birecik Dam. Most visitors take a boat trip: the tip of a minaret rising from the submerged village of Savaşan, rock-cut hollows along the bank and the stretch towards Rumkale are the classic sights. Halfeti’s famous black rose grows in this area too; it is sold in town when in season, and dried petals make a popular gift.

Boat trip length and departure times depend on the operator and the season, and the boat fare is not included in our price. Your chauffeur drops you at a convenient point near the jetty and waits until you are back. Keeping this part of the day flexible takes the stress out of queues on busy weekends. Leave a little time for tea or a fish lunch by the water, too. Halfeti is one of those places that loses its charm if you hurry through.

Comfort on a long drive: vehicle, breaks and season

You will spend hours in the car, so the vehicle is not a luxury — it is the point. For couples and small families we use a Mercedes Vito VIP from the EcrinVIP fleet; for larger groups, a Mercedes Sprinter VIP. Wide seats, strong air conditioning and enough boot space for the isot pepper, pistachios and gifts you pick up on the way back. Families get child seats for an extra charge.

Season shapes the plan directly. Şanlıurfa gets very hot in summer, and with little shade at Göbeklitepe, visiting the site early in the morning and leaving Halfeti for the afternoon saves the day. Hat, sunscreen and water are a must. Spring is the loveliest time for this route, with the Harran Plain turning green. In winter the days are short, so three stops get tight; two stops or an overnight stay is the wiser call.

Breaks matter too. A breakfast or tea stop on the road, kebab or çiğ köfte for lunch in Şanlıurfa, a short pause near Birecik on the way home — your chauffeur fits these to your pace. It is a long day, but it does not need to be a rushed one.

Booking your Göbeklitepe VIP car, step by step

  1. Send the date and your pick-up point in Gaziantep; we agree the early departure time together.
  2. Pick one of the route ideas above or list your own stops.
  3. Flag the time-hungry items — a Halfeti boat trip, lunch in Şanlıurfa, a museum visit.
  4. Tell us the number of passengers, any child seats and your preferred vehicle.
  5. Say whether it is a day trip or an overnight in Şanlıurfa; for overnights, add the plan for day two.
  6. We confirm the vehicle and fixed price in writing; on the day, your chauffeur shares the plate number and phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can you do a day trip from Gaziantep to Göbeklitepe?

Yes. Going from Gaziantep to Göbeklitepe and back the same day is possible and one of our most requested plans. It is a long drive, so we recommend an early start. If you only want Göbeklitepe, you can be back by the afternoon; add Balıklıgöl and Halfeti and you return in the evening. Traffic, season and the number of stops set the timing, so we estimate from your plan rather than quoting fixed hours.

Is seeing Halfeti and Göbeklitepe on the same day too tiring?

It is a long day, no question. The two places are not on the same line, so there is driving in between, and the boat trip takes time too. Still, because you rest in the car and nobody is stuck behind the wheel, many guests finish this plan comfortably. For a calmer pace, we suggest an overnight in Şanlıurfa or fewer stops.

Are a guide and entrance fees included in the Göbeklitepe transfer?

No. The EcrinVIP price covers the car and chauffeur. Site and museum tickets, the Halfeti boat trip and meals are on you. Your chauffeur knows the road and the stops but is not a licensed guide. If you want the full story of the excavations at Göbeklitepe, we recommend a licensed guide, and we can point you to one on request.

Can we stay overnight in Şanlıurfa?

Yes. A two-day plan allows a more balanced flow — Halfeti and Balıklıgöl on day one, Göbeklitepe early on day two before heading back — and Harran or Karahantepe fit in more easily. You book the accommodation; we build the transport plan around your hotel. The chauffeur’s overnight arrangements and the price are settled in writing before you confirm.

How do we pay, and what if we cancel?

The price is per vehicle and fixed in writing before you book. Pay in the car by cash or card, or by bank transfer; for corporate trips we issue invoices. To change the date or cancel, message us on WhatsApp — the cancellation terms are spelled out in your booking confirmation. If the weather makes you want to rethink the day, we will look at an alternative date with you.
